Metal-Promoted Assembly of Peptide-Based Materials or Regenerative Medicine
An innovative strategy to produce synthetic, three-dimensional, functionalized collagen and coiled-coil peptide-based materials will be presented. Strategically placed metal- binding sites within the peptides drive metal-ligand assembly, producing unique assemblies - including micron-sized florettes, 3D-crystals, cages, fibers, meshes and disks. The use of additional ligand binding sites within and on the surface of the peptide materials for inclusion of bioactive molecules will be described.
